Heather Sanderson’s unique and sensitive exploration of a dog’s journey has themes of the importance of self-expression
[Brooklyn, May 2026] – MAJESTIC WISDOM PUBLISHING has a unique publishing vision founded in finding light in the world.
Over the last five years, Majestic Wisdom has published thirty-four titles across many different genres including self-help, healing arts, and plant medicine. The press is pleased to announce the first birthday celebration of the publication of The Dog Who Wanted to Be a Butterfly, a children’s book directed at readers aged 3-8! Happy birthday!
To honor this occasion here’s a review by Sundress Publications‘ Abigail Palmer. Palmer really highlights what this book is all about and we are delighted to share Franklin’s story and magic with more people through her excitement and keen sensitivity!
For more on this book and the vision of its creators:
The book tells the story of Franklin, a dog who wishes to become a butterfly, the journey he takes to get there, and the whimsy of wishes coming true. Author Heather Sanderson says of the book, “The story was inspired by the daily walks I take with a dog in my neighborhood and the need for children to have a book that is as big as their own imaginations.”
Illustrator Gérome Barry explains, “I drew inspiration from the comic books and children’s magazines I used to read when I was little. Their simple lines and bright colors sparked my imagination—everything seemed possible back then. I tried to recapture the mindset and emotions they stirred in me at the time.”
Perfect for personal libraries, classrooms, libraries and children’s book sections The Dog Who Wanted to Be a Butterfly invites kids to open their minds to the possibilities of having dreams, being something different and still being loved unconditionally.
The Dog Who Wanted to Be a Butterfly has had an amazing first year, has been read to hundreds of children (and adults!) who all delight in the ups and downs of Franklin’s trials and laugh with joy along the way too as Franklin can be a bit silly. We look forward to more people meeting Franklin and discovering what dreams they hold that want to come true!
